Pinned Post, I Guess lol

Never thought I'd make one of these, but it's become more and more necessary. But anyways. Hey, my name is Isaac. I'm 23, demiboy, he/they pronouns, Aquarius, blah blah blah. Stuff you likely already know if you've been around long enough or have read my actual bio. I'm also the host of a system, but we're not super public about all of that outside of Discord and that won't much come up here.

My Sideblogs:

  • @isaacsrefblog : my old art blog repurposed into a place to save reference pictures, tutorials, and stuff for when I do draw
  • @premadesareus : my barely active Simblr
  • @littlequartzrecipes : my blog where I reblog any recipes I find. I started organizing it at one point, but I didn't get very far. Might come back to that one day
  • @villainousartco : my art blog. I never really post anymore since I don't have much time for art these days, but I might post again one day
  • @emojifarm : my emoji sideblog where I basically curate a museum of emojis to be used on discord. My most organized blog

DNI:

  • If you ship incest ships (including stuff like Thorki, Sylki, and Luther x Allison)

• I confess to slight hypocrisy here in that I do follow and reblog from like 2 Loki blogs that post about those ships, but I have those tags blocked and just ignore it and reblog the stuff not involving that. Just what you gotta do for good content around here sometimes, unfortunately

  • If you ship pedo shit and/or are/support MAPs. Fiction does effect reality.
  • If you're aphobic, panphobic, transphobic/a terf, or otherwise exclusive to any members of the LGBTQ+ community
  • If you're anti-endo or into syscourse. All systems are systems. Origin doesn't matter and is none of your damn business. It's inappropriate to walk up to someone and be like "you got trauma or nah?". Unless they're hurting someone or appropriating a culture that doesn't belong to them (tulpas), mind your damn business and be respectful. The gatekeeping in this community is such bullshit. Grow up. That goes for endos being bitches to traumagenic systems too. No one is innocent here and it's annoying and exhausting. Beyond this mini rant, I will not be speaking on syscourse any further. Both sides are being stupid and all systems are valid. Period.
  • The other usual stuff. As long as you're not gross or an asshole, you're chill here. This website is about having fun and talking about dumb shows and movies and junk. Let's keep it peaceful and civil and not full of pedophilia, zoophilia, or other rude or nasty shit, alright?

If any of you ever notice me reblogging from anyone nasty or bad, please feel free to send me an ask or DM to let me know so I can delete the reblog and block them. I genuinely do just want this to be a place for everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves despite some of my ranting and bitchiness on this post. This will be edited as needed or if I realized I missed something. Thank you for reading and happy blogging

If you came here to ask me about the Cursed Child bootleg, turn around and leave. That was years ago and I'm just a trans guy trying to forget Harry Potter exists, okay?

Classical Pieces You’ve Probably Heard but Might Not Remember the Name

preciousnugget

Add others if you want! Have fun!

canned-chaos

  • Dies Irae (from Requiem) - Verdi Scary scenes in cartoons, especially involving storms, holes, or treacherous waterfalls.
  • Flight of the Bumblebee - Rimsky-Korsakov Oh come on, everyone knows this one! It sounds too much like the title for you to forget what it’s called! Also: Drumline.
  • Finale to the 1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky Naval battle! Cannon! Fireworks! 4th of July in ‘Murica! Even though it’s about that *other* war going on in 1812!
  • Der Holle Rache kocht in meiner herzen (aka the Queen of the Night aria) - Mozart The one that fancy ladies in movies use to try and break champagne glasses.
  • Libiamo ne’ lieti calici - Verdi ?
  • Largo al factotum - Rossini Does your cartoon need a classical tune for your rotund Italian chef to sing while tossing pizza dough? Have we got a song for you!
  • Overture to The Barber of Seville - Rossini Fast-paced, sneaky-things-are-afoot movie song.
  • The Blue Danube Waltz - Strauss Da-da-da dum dum. *plink plink* *plink plink*. As heard in Jack’s entry to First Class in “Titanic,” and a million other places. (Veggie Tales “Stuff Mart,” anyone?)
  • Moonlight Sonata (mvmt. 1) - Beethoven The ultimate pretty-and-sad piano and/or ballet scene song.
  • Symphony No. 5 - Beethoven dun dun dun DUUUUUN.

I’m sure there are more but these were some of the first that came to mind as missing!

thatnicegingerfangirl

I think this one’s missing, one of my favourites:

Danse Macabre - Camille Saint-Saëns

maythecorpsbewithyou

This is one of the best classical music master-posts I’ve ever seen. I’m so proud of yall

makingsandwichesonlamuella

Pavane for a Dead Princess- Maurice Ravel. Apparently it’s in Dark Knight Rises? I just think it’s pretty.

And

Tales from the Vienna Woods- Johann Strauss II. Contains the melody playing on Rose’s music box in Titanic just before Cal gives her the Heart of the Ocean.

historic-old-guard-lover

what about Claire de Lune by Debussy?

azroazizah

Swan Lake - Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Yes, the ballet. the Odette. the Barbie.

Carmen Fantasy Op 25 - Pablo de Sarasate. You might recognize the second movement. It’s also so pretty and passionate.

Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 - Franz Liszt. Aka The Cat Concerto episode of Tom and Jerry. Sounds borderline impossible to play even for a non-musician like me

Symphony No. 40 - Mozart. The melody from Ten Out of Ten.

Dance of The Sugarplum Fairy - Pyotr Tchaikovsky. From the Nutcracker suite.

Also this is an aria but:

Queen of The Night Aria - The Magic Flute by Mozart. (Sung by Diana Damrau)

greater-than-the-sword

The Sleeping Beauty, Op. 66a - Tchaikovsky. Once Upon a Dream from Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, of course.

natura-est-sacellum

Carmen Habanera - Bizet. This is the Carmen you think of when you think of Carmen. Hope this helps.

La Traviata - Brindisi. If you’ve seen Modsummer Night’s Dream from 1996 with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kevin Cline and wondered what that song is that plays in the town square when all the actors are rehearsing for the play? Yeah…this is that song. daDAAA dadaDA dadaDALADADA da da da dalada da dalada da da da daDAAA dadaDA dadaDA LE DAAAA da da da daladada da daladada daa

The Lark Ascending - Ralph Vaughn Williams. Not sure if this is recognizable to anyone here, but I thought I’d include it because I think it’s a beautiful piece that needs more attention, imo.

Midsummer Night’s Dream, Op. 61: I. Overture Op. 21 - Mendelssohn. A lot of great, recognizable pieces from this overture of the main leitmotifs of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Again, if you saw the ‘96 movie, some of these you’ll immediately be able to place to a specific cut in the opening scene.

In the Halls of the Mountain King - Grieg. C'mon, this is a classic. I figured, since Bramble is pretty big right now, I’d slip in this popular song, since they rework it in an epic way for the end boss…hopefully that doesn’t spoil anything for any of you.

Anyway, found a metaphor.

"You are so lucky you get to stay home and not work."

Change to:

"You are so lucky you get to eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You are so lucky you are not allowed to eat anything else."

Many people like ice cream. Many people know that they will get sick if they only eat ice cream. Maybe this gets through?

crippled-pvp

I like this comparison because it captures the torturous monotony and the bleakness of being physically disabled and unemployable/unable to return to school/etc. it does fucking suck actually
